Notice is hereby given that the public comment period has begun for amendments to the Public Participation Plan for the Macon Area Transportation Study (MATS) region, covering all of Macon-Bibb County, and portions of Jones and Monroe counties. This amendment concerns a new project for the widening of Bass Rd. from Providence Blvd. to New Forsyth Rd. Specifically, the following actions are proposed:

  • Amend the Public Meetings portion of the Public Participation Techniques section. The changes address how MATS employs the use of remote meeting technologies. These changes are adopted in response to guidance provided by Federal Highway Administration (dated 16 March 2020); and
  • Amend the Public Comment portion of the Amendment Process section, to clarify what constitutes a “significant” public comment for the purposes of staff reporting These changes are adopted as a result of comments received from Georgia Dept. of Transportation-Office of Planning, as part of the MATS Certification Review Report, dated December 2019

This amendment can be viewed here (the proposed changes are highlighted in yellow).

Copies of the amendment are available by calling the Macon-Bibb Co. Planning & Zoning Commission (478) 751-7460.
